The support system for Jewish women struggling with post natal depression.

Welcome to אחותי

אחותי has three main goals with which we have built our foundation.

Educate

Support

Awareness

#beintheknow

אחותי aims to educate new mothers, pregnant women, young couples and extended families of the underlying risks and signs of post natal depression. There are many misunderstandings and a severe lack of knowledge with maternal mental health disorders. אחותי aims to arm the Jewish community with the knowledge to prepare and possibly prevent mothers suffering from post natal depression.

#mysister

אחותי was started by a group of women, all mothers of different ages who over time have suffered severally from post natal depression. Together they form a cohesive group that aims to provide one on one support and encouragement through our call centre and group meetings. All our volunteers have been trained by psychological professionals and are equipped to offer advice and support to the mothers who need it. They are your sisters within the Jewish community who have been on a similar journey to your own. We can help refer you to the correct professionals to seek the help you so well deserve.

#saynotoshame

The statistics of Maternal mental health disorders is 1 in 5. one of the biggest reasons that women do not seek help before is too late is because they are embarrassed and ashamed of their condition. The stigma surrounding maternal mental health is crippling to the recovery process of the women that we love. Achoti aims to raise awareness by encouraging women to tell their stories and let other women know that they need not be embarrassed to seek help.
